TASSOUMA WOYO
They are young, they are seven and they have talent. "Tassouma
Woyo" is today the pride of the Malian music lovers. They do not
know rap, they wanted to innovate and they found their way: the "Zabantchi".
The Zabanci is a mix of two cultures: the “Zouglou” coming
from Ivory Coast where they all were born and “sonorities of Mali”,
their country of origin. Like most of the young people of the continent,
they chose music to denounce the bad conditions of life of Africans
in a style different from rap and on a more conciliating tone than hip
hop.
They don’t know the verbal violence; the “Zabanci”
is a music of ambiance, for feast and this is why the leading track
of this opus is called "Séliba" or feast of the cheep
(Tabaski).
The “Zabanci” became a feeling, an assembling movement in
all the capital, maybe even in all the country. So we easily understand
that the protégés of Ismaél Diop share the Malian
scene with the best of the African showbiz. The band has already shared
scenes with Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Sékouba
Bambino Diabaté, Coumba Gawlo, Ismaél Isaac,
Tata Pound.
Their first album "Yapèkè" on sale since December
19th, 2002 promises.
PIRACY
Today March 24, the court of appeal of Bamako will rule without appeal
on a case opposing Mali
K7 SA, Siriman Diallo and twelve other artists among
whom Ali Farka Touré,
Habib Koité,
Amy Koita,
Rokia Traoré,
Adama N Fomba, Les
Escrocs, Issa
Bagayoko, Mamou
Sidibé, Nahawa
Doumbia, Samouni Diakité, Yoro Sidibé…
to an importer of pirated tapes. This one was already condemned in April
2001 by first authority to pay a million of franc to each part and five
hundred thousand franc of fine.
Moreover it should be noted that since a few months, there’s a
recrudescence of piracy in spite of the institution of the stickers
(on June 20, 2002). It is easy to note that on the market, the stickers
are affixed only on one tape out of ten and when it the case, two out
of three are counterfeited.

She is very appreciated for the quality of her voice and the topics

Bla. She is hospitalized in Bamako.
